Brahmastra begins with Guruji (Amitabh Bachchan) narrating the legend of the Astras and how a group of warriors known as Brahmansh utilized this weaponry, which gave them energy-radiating powers.

This ancient order has been working for centuries to protect these ‘astras‘ from the Dark Forces. Since modern generations have ignored about their presence, these modern Brahmansh continue to guard the ‘astras’ while holding influential positions in society. Brahmastra, the Lord of all weapons, is divided into three pieces and distributed throughout the country to keep the Dark Forces at bay. It is guarded by some of society’s most powerful people.

Meanwhile, Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor), a happy-go-lucky orphan who works as a DJ, meets London-bred Isha (Alia Bhatt) in a Durga Puja Pandal and falls in love at first sight. As their romance grows, Shiva is tormented by some mysterious scary visuals, which lead him to believe that a dark force led by Junoon (Mouni Roy) is searching for the scattered pieces of Brahmastra for something sinister.

As the visuals become more intense, Shiva gradually discovers his superpowers and the ability to unleash fire from his palms. The rest of the film revolves around our hero embarking on a journey with his ladylove that also holds the key to his past.

Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor), a young orphaned DJ, lives a happy, light-filled life surrounded by orphaned children. His special connection with fire – it does not inflame him – and a slew of visuals that appear before him when he closes his eyes periodically suck him into a world of superpowers. 

While there is a mythological underpinning to this, it gradually connects Shiva to the story of his parents, altering the course of his life. His search for love and light leads him to the destruction of evil forces and the discovery of his true potential. The film sets up its notion and the origin of its universe in an interesting way, with comic-book-styled visuals and Amitabh Bachchan’s baritone. 

Brahmastra full movie download: Part One: Shiva is heavily reliant on two elements: its visual effects and the love story of its lead characters, Shiva and Isha (Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt). The visual effects in the film are excellent. In most cases, it is well-thought-out, high-quality, and effective. The culmination of the pre-interval scenes, for example, is a spectacle.

The film incorporates elements of Indian mythology and folklore, which is fantastic. The effort and passion put into creating the universe in this film, complete with minute details, are admirable. While doing so, the filmmakers proudly salute films such as the Harry Potter franchise. The film excels in areas such as visual effects. The film’s colour palette was thoughtfully created, and the depiction of the astras created from natural powers and mythological characters is beautiful. Whistles and claps are also due for the action choreography, particularly in the chase sequence before the intermission.

Watching actors like Nagarjuna and Amitabh Bachchan play pivotal roles in the T is entertaining, but not surprising. They’ve done it a million times. In his limited screen time, Nagarjuna is quite effective. And Mr. Bachchan appears at ease in the skin of his character, effortlessly performing action scenes. Ranbir makes an effort to add emotional weight to the proceedings. With the way he plays Shiva, he tries very hard to take the audience beyond the film’s surface layers. It would have been fantastic if Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy’s characters had been developed with the same zeal as Ranbir’s in order for them to have the same lasting impact.

There is also little focus on the secondary characters, which is unlike anything director-writer Ayan Mukerji has done before.

Even though Brahmastra: Part One: Shiva had the potential and the space for it, the love story of its lead couple, which shapes the thrust of the narrative here, falls short. In fact, it doesn’t seem plausible from the start, which significantly weakens the film’s core. As a result, the film’s larger story feels weak, and the screenplay suffers as well. 

The dialogues aren’t much better either. The runtime becomes tedious in the latter stages. The story could have been better balanced between the two halves of the film. And, while the songs are enjoyable to listen to, their presence occasionally detracts from the narrative’s momentum.

A believable, character-driven story that emotionally engages you is the difference between great and good. The most imaginative worlds created by cinema’s geniuses ultimately rely on the writing to keep everything else perfectly glued in place. With all of its advantages, nothing compensates for Brahmastra’s emotional deficiencies. If that had been given more attention, it would have gone a long way toward elevating the proceedings.
